Forbes article: How I almost screwed up raising a $6M A Round
My first mistake was that I went to one of the best VCs in the world first.
It was August 1st and I was nervous. I had a great relationship with this first VC and I thought my pitch deck was strong enough that maybe he would love it and this would be the only meeting I would need to do. I had even gone to Silicon Valley four months earlier to do a trial run with a senior partner so that he could critique the deck.
We bombed. We had two partners in the room and within the first five minutes, one of them was checking text messages on his phone. He asked some very tough questions that I did not answer cleanly, and it was clear within 20 minutes that we were dead men walking.
